... well not really. But we found this in our sink a few nights ago. We got a butter dish and took him outside where he belongs! It's a blue tailed skink! I think they are very pretty..

About Me Section

I am working on my webpage. What do you think of this for my about me section? You grammar buffs out there help me out!



There is more than looking through a lens and snapping a shot. For me photography is capturing a moment in time. A moment that can continually be relived through a photograph. I have always had a passion for photography and my desire has increased with the birth of my daughter. My passion has lead me to take a leap into a profession. I am just starting out and seeking to build my portfolio, therefore; the savings will be past on to you!

I am an on location, natural light photographer. We will meet at a location of your choosing (I have some suggestions if you are stumped) and I will take my time to get to know you and your family. Then we will have a great time making memories that your family can cherish forever.

Other than a photographer I am a christian, wife and mother and love every minute of it! A few of my favorite things include: sunshine, flip flops, chap stick, ink pens, and cherry ICEE's!!

Being a mommy and a photographer is hard work! She isn't sitting on her own yet so that makes things difficult!!! Try getting a 4 month old's attention with one hand and press the shutter with the other! It is very entertaining! Here is one from today!

Website and Other

Well I need some feedback. I have the trial version of my website up. It is not near complete but it is getting there. I need some feed back on a few things. I have someone designing me a logo so the one on the page is not permanent.

What do you think of the color scheme?

Also, what do you think of the gallery names? I need advice, so put your thinking caps on... here is what they are now and what I am thinking:

Newborns & Babies ... bundled blessings (like this a lot unless someone can change my mind)
(do you think this should justbe newborns and a second category for babies)
Maternity ... great expectations (this is a keeper too unless someone can change my mind)
Seniors ... new beginnings (fresh starts) any suggestions
Engagement ... total commitment (????)
Families ... forever devoted (????)
Children ... joyful days (??? growing gracefully)

After looking at that picture of Kyla I just remembered a conversation I had with my husband.

Him: "Kara pull your hair back please."
Me: "okay" (pulling hair back)
Him: (looking from me to kyla and back again) "Yep she has your ears!!"

Thought it was funny! They are good to keep your hair out of your face I suppose!

KY STATE FAIR

Well we had a wonderful day at the KY state fair! We enjoyed the indoor displays in the air conditioning and made our rounds outdoors when it got a little cooler. I love fair food so I had a footlong corndog and Justin and I split a funnel cake! It was a great time! Kyla did great! Here are some photos of our fun day!

A little bit of an update!

Well I have been so wrapped up in this whole photography thing I haven't written much else!

Justin has started classes. He has Biblical Counseling and a New Testament Class! He is going to enjoy both classes. It is hard to believe that school is starting again. I finally miss school. Not so much the work as the stimulating lectures. I realie that I do not challenge myself as my classes did. That is probably something I need to work on!

Justin bought Kyla a Bible. He bought her the Jesus Storybook Bible
It is really great! Every story points to Jesus. Reading it to her is going to teach us so much about the WHOLE story! I love the illustrations aswell! She likes it for oh about 5 minutes!

The photography things is going really well. I enjoy it so much! I am learning all about my camera and shooting primarily in Manual. This weekend I have a maternity shoot, family shoot, and engagements pictures. I am still building up my portfolio so I am not charging yet. I am contemplating on the name still and trying to figure out the best options for going online! Thanks for your support and encouragement friends!

I should call it beautiful feet photography! Just joking. I think I am settling on True Joy Photography. I really wanna register for a domain name in case I wanna go big time. (yea right, me) Who knows?!? But I would rather claim it for $9.00 a year than someone else get it on down the road. Maybe I am jumping the gun. Who knows!

What do you think of True Joy Photography? Any other suggestions. I liked the suggestions of "In the Light Photography" But I felt like it was a little long. Thanks for the input! I am SOOOO open to ideas!

Whats in a name?

Here it is 6:45 am and I am awake. I have been awake for an hour and I didn't go to sleep until around 4:00 am. So since I am awake I am using my time wisely! RIGHT!

I am thinking of a name... to call my photography business. Cause I need a name right :). Hopefully I will anyways. I don't really like the ring of Kara Guffey Photography. So I thought about KG Photography which I kind of like but there is already a KG Photography and some of the pictures are pretty explicit. I would hate for someone to get us confused :( Also wouldn't mind using the word joy. I was thinking Pure Joy Photography. I kind of like that. What about you any suggestions? If you were goign to go to a photographer would you pic someone with a name or someone who used their own name??

Well since I have the perfect subject here are a few pics of our shoot at the park today the last one is one of her and one of me in the same dress. I was 6 months old.

Poked!!

My lil girl is tuckered out! She got 5 shots today and had to drink something! She is such a trooper and did really well!! I asked Justin to come with me so I didn't have to do this by myself. I am so glad he was there. After a great appointment[She is perfectly healthy. Weighs 11 lbs 14 oz (75%) and 24 in long (90%)] we had the dreaded shots. The nurse laid her on the table and held her legs down. She didn't like that but was doing okay looking at me then the stick! She made one loud yelp and then got red in the face (like she was trying to cry but no sound came out) by the time she took a breath and a lil sound came out the nurse was done and I scooped her up! She did so good. I hated it but we survived!!!
